Anyone may nominate a Pitt Social Work alum for an award. Self-nominations are also accepted.

 

There are four award categories:

 

  • Distinguished Alumni Award: The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest recognition bestowed by the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. This prestigious honor celebrates alumni who have attained outstanding achievements in their professional endeavors and a deep commitment to advancing the mission of the University of Pittsburgh and the School of Social Work. 
 
  • Advancing Excellence Award: Formerly known as the Outstanding Alumni Award, this award recognizes alumni who have made significant contributions to the social work field or in other professional settings, and whose work is advancing impact and standards of excellence for social work graduates.
 
  • School of Social Work Service Award: This award celebrates alumni who has made significant contributions to Pitt Social Work through service, including but not limited to teaching, training, and/or volunteer service. Nominees can include, but are not limited to: field instructors, adjunct faculty, Alumni Council members, etc.
 
  • Rising Star Alumni Award: This award recognizes alumni who have had a notable impact early in their career by applying social work skills and values to their work, and who demonstrate significant professional promise.
